Spinal tumors
Spinal tumors
The spine is a relatively frequent site of tumors, they can be primary, whose initial origin is the vertebra itself, the meninges, the spinal nerves or the spinal cord.
Metastatic tumors are also common, that is, from other locations, and their treatment should be done in conjunction with other specialists and with other strategies in addition to surgery.
Spinal infections
Infection of the vertebrae and discs is called spondylodiscitis. It is a rare, but potentially serious disease. Its most frequent origin is from an infection in the skin, mouth or urinary tract. It can also be complicated with epidural abscesses that compress the spinal cord, requiring surgery, in addition to specific antibiotics.
