Spondylolisthesis
Spondylolisthesis
It is the displacement in the anteroposterior direction of a vertebra with respect to another adjacent, this creates an abnormal movement in the joint that can produce very intense pain.
Although there are several causes, the most frequent is degenerative, due to weakness in the posterior joints of the vertebrae, causing instability, which with the passage of time and the usual movement of that level, worsens the degree of displacement, giving symptoms at a certain time. Spondylolisthesis is often associated with canal stenosis.
If exercises and analgesics are not enough to control pain, there is a treatment with surgery that consists of fixing the affected segment with prosthetic materials to prevent movement and pain derived from it, it is called arthrodesis. This surgery can also be done with a minimally invasive technique.
