Lumbar canal stenosis
Lumbar canal stenosis
It refers to the narrowing of the vertebral canal through which spinal nerves pass. It is a degenerative process of slow onset, due to hypertrophy (growth) of the vertebral joints or their ligaments, which at a certain moment becomes symptomatic.
The typical symptom of canal stenosis is the feeling of tiredness or weakness in the legs, which is more marked when greater function is required to the nerves, therefore, worsens with basic physical activities, such as walking.
The treatment of choice when the symptoms are moderate to severe, is laminectomy, this can also be done with minimally invasive technique.
