Vertebral fractures

Vertebral fractures usually appear after a high-energy trauma, however, when there are metabolic diseases that reduce the hardness of the bone, such as osteopenia, osteoporosis among others, they can occur after minimal blows or even with minimal physical effort.

Fracturas vertebrales

There are many types of vertebral fractures, they can occur along the entire spine, from the cervical region to the lumbosacral region, and depending on their severity and location, they can produce simple pain that is difficult to control, or injuries to the spinal nerves or even the spinal cord.

Treatment depends on the classification of the fracture, it can be simple immobilization with corset or collar or may require different surgical techniques such as vertebroplasty / kyphoplasty, percutaneous fusion or traditional open fusion.
